Asia Argento, born in Rome into a family that includes actors and directors, also pursued these careers. Her first film came out when she was only nine years old, in the Sergio Citti's film Sogni e Bisogni. in 1988. She played the leading role in Cristina Comencini's first film, Zoo and was part of the ensemble cast for The Church which was directed by Michele Soavi. The following year she played Nanni Moretti's daughter in Red Wood Pigeon (also directed by Moretti). It was through Close Friends written and directed by Michele Placido, that Asia's career took off, and she had the opportunity to move on from playing very young girls to more mature, complex roles. The film was given a favourable response in the Cannes International Film Festival. Trauma marks her first work in a film with Dario Argento. Daria is Argento's daughter, and she is an orexiac woman who seeks out her father's killer.

She was born and raised in Charleston (South Carolina) however she resides in Metairie, Louisiana. Modeling began for her as a young girl. She became known as the Elite Miami Model after being one of the finalist for the Elite Model Look competition of 1993. She also modeled with Elite Miami internationally, as well at shows held in conjunction with Elite Miami in Miami.
